Thank You Carol Wimmer

WHEN I SAY, "I AM A CHRISTIAN"

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting, "I’ve been saved!"
I'm whispering, "I get lost! That's why I chose this way"

When I say, "I am a Christian" I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble— needing God to be my guide

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, "I am a Christian" I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are all too visible but God believes I'm worth it

When I say, "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache, which is why I seek His name

When I say, "I am a Christian" I do not wish to judge
I have no authority...I only know I'm loved

I am really surprised that no one has commented on this by now. People don't realize what you mean when you say that you are Christian. They hear it from so many people that live so many different lifestyles, which I feel is why so many people have wandered off the path. There are so many "wolves if sheeps clothing" in this world, preachers that have lavish homes, expensive cars, just over all materialism, people that go to Church more as a status symbol. Too many of us have lost the true meaning of "Christianity" because of things similar to these I have mentioned. I am a sinner, human, as we all are...I ask God, quietly, when I need guidance, strength to make it through a day, knowledge to handle certain situations. I am what they call a "God seeker", I have been called that on several occasions when I was working as a nurse. I am still not sure what exactly that means. I do know that my heart has not been quickened yet, though I have prayed for that...maybe He is not ready to do so, or I am not ready to accept, I am not really sure. But I do have firm beliefs and feel that to so many people the word "Christian" does not hold much meaning...to me it holds everything. That was a great poem, I'll have to forward it to my mom, I am sure that she will enjoy it as she is a woman of deep, unaltering faith. Thank you for finding and posting that.
